The Green Machine Wants You!
We are particularly looking for students with an interest in engineering, computer programming, math, business, marketing and media activities.
10th and 11th Graders: Want to know more about EHS’s FIRST (FIRST = For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) Robotics team, the Green Machine? Come to Team 1816’s New Student/Parent Information Night, September 15, from 6-9 pm at Davanni’s (Vernon Ave.). If you think your friends are interested in joining the team, bring them too. The night is also a fundraiser, so bring your family. Some of the profits gathered by Davanni’s during that time go to support the Edina team.
The Green Machine is one of the leading FIRST teams in Minnesota and the nation.
Our FIRST team not only designs and builds robots, we are also involved in many other different activities. These include community service, helping start and mentor new teams, participating in FIRST pilot opportunities, and hosting region-wide activities and events. Our team hosts a daylong educational event, Minnesota Splash, for other teams at the University of Minnesota.
Want to learn how to do computer animation or computer-aided design? Join the Green Machine. Want to improve your public speaking skills? Join the Green Machine. Want to learn how to program a computer? Interested in how to do media for large stadium events? Yup, we do all of that and more. We are particularly looking for students with an interest in engineering, computer programming, math, business, marketing and media activities.
Professional mentors keep us on track, but this is truly a student-led operation.
The Green Machine is one of the leading FIRST teams in Minnesota and the nation; there are more than 1,700 FIRST teams worldwide. It is an unusual high-school activity, one that gives students a hands-on opportunity to learn about science and technology in a unique way. The Green Machine builds a robot from initial design through testing to competing against other schools at a fast paced, high tech sporting event. Last year FIRST took over both the Williams and Mariucci Arenas at the U for the Minnesota Regional Competitions. Professional mentors keep us on track, but this is truly a student-led operation. For more information, email contact@edinarobotics.com. See you on September 15th!
