Cars use up extra gas during the winter because of the energy it takes to warm up, the extra energy it takes to trudge through unplowed roads, plus the extra time wasted sitting around in traffic due to snow-related car accidents. So unless you absolutely have to leave the house, stay at home on super snowy days and wait until a nicer day to leave the house.
