Current game strategy: let the wookie win.

Over half way done, and crunch time is just around the corner! Well, maybe not quite yet, but it sure is coming up in a hurry. Of course we're making very good progress; the chassis is just waiting for a few parts and should be done this week and the kicker mechanism is done being prototyped and finishing up final details on how it's going to be mounted on the chassis.Tomorrow we don't have the building available because of some political thing going on, but fortunately we have all day today to make up for the time lost since there's no school!

SPARK was two days ago, and it went very well of course. We got lots of visitors from parents/family and sponsors, so it was nice to see them. The kids really liked the new driver station with all the shiny buttons. Perhaps there were some future 1816 team members among the bunch! I just hope the visitors didn't mind the long trek from workshop to computer room, which seems to be getting longer each year... Ah well. Overall it was very informational for all the visitors and nice for the team to show off what we've accomplished so far!

So as you all have probably heard, Apple has released the new iPad (my dad loves it because the screen isn't so teeny like all the other iDevices), which has me wondering how soon it'll be before FIRST has us doing something with touch screen tech for a game. The earlier version of the classmate already had a touch screen (but it didn't work very well, which is probably why the new version doesn't have it), so it really doesn't seem that unrealistic to have the robots controlled by a touch screen... thing... Or maybe the playing field will be a GIANT touch screen and the robots have to press buttons and whatnot on it and do something crazy. Or maybe I've been watching Star Trek too much again.

Speaking of Star Trek, I can't believe I have to wait until June 29, 2012 until the next movie :( That's much too far away. At least it comes before the apocalypse on Dec 21st later that year.
