About Us
Our students in grades 10-12 bring together their interests in math, science, engineering, computer programming, marketing, and media, to build a robot to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition.
Edina Robotics FIRST Team 1816-The Green Machine is the team of Edina High School, Edina, MN. Our students in grades 10-12 bring together their interests in math, science, engineering, computer programming, marketing, and media, to build a robot to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition. In addition to building and competing a robot, Team 1816 takes the FIRST expectation of outreach to our community and other teams very seriously. Since 2006, our rookie season, we have made considerable efforts to interest students, teachers, and parents in other school districts to form teams. We are thrilled that there are now more than 150 Minnesota FRC teams, from only two active teams in 2006! Our state now hosts three regional competitions: the Lake Superior Regional, Duluth; the 10,000 Lakes Regional, Minneapolis, and the North Star Regional, Minneapolis.
Mission Statement
The foremost goal of the Edina Robotics FIRST Team 1816 – The Green Machine – is to offer students positions of leadership and responsibility, and to create an environment that encourages creative problem-solving while promoting this unique atmosphere to fledgling teams. The Team will also furnish opportunities for students to work and build relationships with adult mentors possessing professional expertise. Additionally, the Team will strive to develop and apply the students’ knowledge of science, math, and business; and to encourage community interest in all things science and technology.
The Web Team
Established in the 2007 season, The Green Machine's website is completely student designed, developed, and maintained.
