Current Members and Mentors

There are many projects and tasks that a FIRST Robotics team must accomplish. To meet deadlines and goals, Edina Robotics FIRST Team 1816-The Green Machine, is divided into subteams: Business & Outreach; Robot Build (Drive-train, Chassis and Manipulator); Computer-Aided Design (CAD); Control Systems& Programming; and Facilities. These subteams are further organized into project teams to take on tasks ranging from presentations to corporate sponsors, fundraising, mentoring FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge teams, and advocating for government support of STEM funding. Click here to read more in-depth about each sub-team.

Dr. Iain McIntyre lends his talents in both arts and science (he’s a laser physicist and a patent attorney), whether he’s offering suggestions on how to market the Team at competitions (the pit!) or working through the challenges of business and sponsorship presentations. He strongly believes it’s important for students to see adults behaving well, unlike those behaving badly that they see on TV or in movies.
